How would you wash a handmade crocheted blanket without damaging it?
My baby got a beautiful handmade crocheted blanket as a gift and I want to wash it before she uses it, but I don't want to damage it. Any suggestions?
I'll probably only use it on special occasions, like pictures and Easter (it has crosses on it) and things like that. But I need to wash it before she uses it the first time, of course.
If you are really worried about damaging it then you may not want her to use it at all. I usually wash my crocheted blankets on a very short, very cold gentle cycle with dreft or woolite. Then you may decide to either let it air dry or put on very low heat in the dryer. I would let it air dry most of the way and then put it on VERY low heat tumble dry to fluff.
