whats better CCD or CMOS Nikon Sensors? What do you think?
Ive noticed CCD has ISO 100 on Nikon, but CMOS starts at ISO 200. I know CMOS handles ISO much better but why the switch to CMOS from CCD...
Neither, both.
CCD or CMOS is a decision made during the design phase.
CMOS sensors are less costly to make and have a lot of features manufactured into the actual sensor.
CCD's are more "universal" and all the features are controlled by electronics in the camera.
CCD's are still used in professional video cameras. They, unlike CMOS sensors, do NOT suffer from the "jelly" effect when CMOS sensors are used in a video mode.
CMOS or CCD. Not a consideration for those who shoot still photographs.
If camera makers get more serious about making a universal still/video cameras, you will see either CCD's or a new technology the rid the dSLR cameras from the "jelly" effect and overheating.
