I am getting in to astronomy and have a not brilliant, you could say "cheap" reflector,at the minute i do not seem to be able to see any colour with my scope (when i look at jupiter i just see a bright small orange disk, you can see some of its moons but they just look like pin heads. i was thinking about buying a meade zoom eyepiece at the price of £128 it was the best buy in this months sky at night magazine. But i was just wondering if this will make much difference to my viewing?, i want to be able to see deep sky objects and the eyepieces i have seem to be no good at all. thanks in advance
ok well my scope is a science tech one. i think it is a rubbish scope. i realise you cant see all the colours under the sun. but how then do you see in the magazines decent views of jupiter and other colours in galaxies and nebula etc.(apart from most of them having scopes worth thousands)

Most of what you describe is to be expected. With most small scopes you will not be able to resolve the moons of Jupiter as anything other than points of light. You also see far less colour than most people imagine through a telescope. Again, this is normal, especially with a reflector. You should double check your scope's collimation though - what colour there is is one of the first things you lose with a badly collimated scope.
Zoom eyepieces are generally regarded as a bad idea: for the same money you can get a good range of fixed focal length eyepieces with better performance. An expensive eyepiece is not going to resolve the problems you have, which for the most part sound like unrealistic expectations.
