Why are my cockatiels pulling out the baby's feathers?
I have 8 cockatiels now. 3 are babies and the others are adults. The babies are almost full grown, their feathers are still a little short. Every now and then, one of the female adults will go up to a baby and pull a feather out. But she feeds the babies too. I've heard of birds "feather pulling" before, but I just don't understand WHY they do it. What do they think they're doing? Helping? I don't get it?

Wow you are also a cockatiel lover as well. That is pretty cool. It sounds like that the female adult bird is plucking out the baby feathers or it some times called feather plucking. What this means is they are getting rid of old feathers in order to grow new ones. I also have a pair of cockatiel's who pluck there feather's out. I believe it also called feather preening. But i may be wrong. I would ask your vet, he or she could give you a better answer. I wish you luck.
