Best all purpose lens for Rebel XT and depth of field?
To take action, portraiture and wedding photography. Obviously I know one lens can't get it all, but I am looking for suggestions on the best all around lens that can do all of these things.
Also, I am having trouble with my rebel xt with increasing the depth of field. I am taking group shots and can't seem to find the sweet spot to get the most out of the depth of field without it all being blurry. If I set the f stop to 7-8 or higher it just blurs out the whole image. Any help?
The Canon 24-70 mm f 2.8 is a superb all-around lens (and well made, as well), but it's not so wide for your camera.

Use depth of field preview button to see if your current setting is "deep" enough, such as sample above.
