Deciding on a new DSLR. opinions?
Hi,
i'm upgrading from a film SLR to a digital one,
and i'm torn between two camera's; the Olympus e-p1 or a Canon 1000D.
i want it for just general photography, and also for festivals.
i've been looking and the Olympus e-p1 is actually no longer in production, and has been updated, which means that it is now cheaper, (about $750AU with the 14-42mm and the 17 pancake),
while the Canon 1000D is still in production, and for the twin lens kit with IS it's about $900-1000AU.
i like the olympus because of its smaller size, and its much like a point and shoot, but still offers most features found in an SLR. (no flash or proper viewfinder but, almost a deal breaker) it is also starting to get a lot of new lenses coming out.
any insights would be much appreciated.
oh yeah, sorry, the olympus isnt aa DSLR, but its pretty close in regards to image quality and features.
Why don't you get the Pentax K-x ? It's a small DSLR with big abilities.

And you can use ANY pentax lenses on it; made since the 1970's I think; and that's a lot of lenses, you can also find the older lenses that take great quality photos for low prices (speaking less then $50)

and if you shop around online, you could get it around $500 to $700 and that's with the kit lenses (you can get; it with BOTH 18-55 AND 55-300mm lenses) (It's $729 with the TWO kit lenses, cheaper with just the 18-55)
