Compared to other cars, how expesnive are repair parts for a 92' BMW?
I was thinking about buying a 92' BMW but i keep hearing that parts are expensive. Is this true?
Sorry Holly, but it's true.
No matter where or what, the majority of parts for a Beamer will be more expensive than 75% of the other cars on the market, of the same year. That is not very detailed, but true. A starter for a '92 chevy sedan w/ a 6 cyl. engin will go for around $65-$80, the BMW around $230, just did a '94 last month for a friend.
Most luxury and true high performance vehicles are expensive to buy and expensive to keep. Insurance, maintenance, shop hours, all are on the steep side of the scale for BMW's, although if properly cared for, tend to be VERY reliable vehicles that retain a high resale value.
If it's too far below the Kelly's Blue Book value, you are probably buying someone else's problems...and you may regret the purchase. Take the car to a BMW specialty shop or dealership for a onceover before deciding to spend your hard earned cash, the money spent will be well worth the peace of mind.
