Soft box, remote strobe flash, and shutter speed...?
I just received a softbox/strobe flash for christmas. When I use the softbox my shutter speed is extremely slow, which of course is giving mr blurred pictures (glad I'm just experimenting right now). I have tried adjusting the white balance and the ISO, but it doesn't work. Also, I don't know if the flash is just this bright, but a lot of times the subject looks washed out. HELP!! I own a Canon Rebel 450.
FYI, none of these items came with instructions (softbox, strobe flash, remote trigger)
Your strobe is not connected electronically so the camera doesn't know that it's connected to it. The camera is metering for the light it is actually seeing, not for the flash. You have to set the camera in manual mode, and set the aperture and shutter manually. I don't know the power of your strobe, but try setting the shutter to 1/125 and the aperture to F8 Have your ISO set to 100. If over or under exposed, change your aperture. and the power setting on your strobe, if you have one. Changing the shutter speed won't affect your exposure, since the flash is faster than the shutter.
