Where to position a soft box and umbrella light for an amateur studio photographer?
I have 1 soft box and 1 umbrella that my parents just recently got me. I going to practice on my neice today for her birthday, and in previous shoots i always get dark shadows, and I can never seem to get the reflected light in the eye please help any suggestions thank you!
Where you place your lights depends on how you want to light the subject!!
If you want fairly even lighting (key:fill) say 2:1 or 1:1 then place one of them at 45 deg to the left and one at 45 deg to the right.
If you want a higher ratio, then use one light on subject (plus reflector for fill) & use the other on the b/g. Or use the other as a back light to rim light the subject.
